Annabel Lee by Mike Nappa

ISBN-13: 9780800726447 Publisher: Revell

Friends, it’s been a long time since I’ve been on a roller coaster ride. I mean a long, long, time…but Annabel Lee by Mike Nappa provided one powerful thrill ride. I think one of the neatest things about this book is that it uses Edgar Allen Poe’s poem, Annabel Lee very creatively within the story.

A little girl mysteriously hidden from the world, protected by a team of Special Ops men and a German Shepherd, finds herself swept into a torrid world of criminals, psychopaths and a history of bizarre cryptic beliefs. A mystery unto herself, even she has no clue what’s so amazing about her. Uncle Truck has taught her well to obey his directions without questions. She complies to the fullest and is left to discover the truth behind her life alone with the dog, in a military bunker.

Trudy Coffey is a strong detective with her own thriving business. After a painful divorce, she has made a pretty good life for herself, until a stranger intrudes into her office, threatening her life and the life of her ex-husband. Once a powerful team, Trudy and her ex, Samuel, are running for their life from the dastardly Dr. Smith and his henchmen.

They say it takes a village to raise a child, and in this story, it takes a village to rescue a little girl from men determined to harm her.

Annabel Lee is a page flippin’, intriguing story that will keep your heart pounding and you immersed right to the very end. A five out of five stars for sure.

I received this book from Revell Publishing in exchange for my honest opinion which I’ve provided here.
