I’m a huge fan of all the Thesaurus collection books written by Angela Ackerman and Becca Puglisi, so when I saw the Occupational Thesaurus: A Writer’s Guide to Jobs, Vocations, and Careers, it was a no brainer that I must add this to my writing craft library.
Writers know goal, motivation, and conflict are the foundations of a great story. In the Occupational Thesaurus, the authors describe in detail how a character’s occupation might reflect everything from past wounds to current conflict. These elements drive characters through their developmental arcs. And with this resource, the possibilities are endless. So along with the long list of occupations, the thesaurus provides craft information on developing the character and plot.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about this book, but I’ll give it to you in a single-sentence recap. This resource is a must have for writers!
Mark your calendars! The book releases July 17, 2020!
Sharee, I am so glad this book was a hit with you. It’s crazy just how mileage we can get from our character’s occupation, right? I love how many directions we can take things using a career.
Thanks so much for being an arc reader and reviewing the book! You are the best <3
